I use a pph site and have a small following and all is going well. I do take new people from time to time and when that happens I explain to them that if I am taking someone new I require 20% down of the line of credit to be extended to them. Many seem to think this is irrational and unfair. But from a standpoint as a player or should I say as a legit player, doesn't it make sense that I would not give you a dime of credit if I do not know you, rather have a security deposit just in case you do not pay. I actually have a few that came aboard this way and found that they where more honest than the some of the "loyal" customers I thought I had. How can one expect to get a line to play with, if nothing is put down. Their is a cap to what I extend people, obviously, but still to me this is pretty darn fair. Could someone from a bettors standpoint tell me if they feel this is fair as well? Or really is it asking too much. If I know the person I do not require this, and to me it keeps me from being opened for chip shots. Thanks.

I don't see anything wrong with asking for 20% up front especially if you don't know the person. At least if the stiff you, you get a little something from them.

Good Luck

Friends can sometimes be tough to collect from too. You can end up given them to much extra time and or more unneccessary credit which can eventually wind them up in the whole far more worse.

If I didn't know the guys and he wasn't refered, I'd ask for 50%. Lot of thieves out there these days.If they proved themselves over the course of time, I'd refund their deposit.

Personally, I dont see what the reason is. I mean if the guy is going to beat you, he is going to beat you. I dont think the little 20% that you get from them is worth the guys you might offend by asking for it. Then again what do I know, I still have over 30k owed to me from 2 years ago from a couple of guys.
